Ada Nephyre Empty
PostSubject: Ada Nephyre   Ada Nephyre EmptyTue Dec 07, 2010 5:19 pm

Name (original): Carin di Nomine

Gender: Female

Age: 29

Date of birth: April 17th, 1981

Location of birth: Umbria, Italy

Race: Human

Physical Description: An unusually tall woman on the border of six feet with a full figure graced with soft edges. Her hands and feet are small, making it easier for her to be agile on rough terrain. She has a heart-shaped face and small chin as well as a high forehead. Her nose is of medium length, thin, and hooks slightly at the end. Despite the bird-like features, most are distracted by the dark brown curls and the distinctive olive-brown skin of her heritage; the most unusual feature of her appearance is her ocean-blue eyes, each with a silver ring about the pupil.

Clothing Description: For one who has lived in a country known as one of the great hubs of fashion, Ada tastes are eccentric at best. No matter what the weather, she wears a brightly colored summer dress and hiking boots whenever she feels like visiting the outside world. Some have have questioned this and have been met with no answer, at least a straight one. When the occasion is formal, she will wear ivory white business suits, black heels, a black business blouse, and a blue tie. She feels it helps put her on a more masculine level and makes it easier to negotiate with another male; she has never believed in seduction in order to achieve her goals. Ada's uniform for battle is unusual yet perfect for her fighting style. The ensemble resembles that of a Vatican nun's uniform, but with the colors reversed. She wears tight black trousers underneath and her hiking boots to avoid discomfort (and possible awkward moments).

Personality: Ada is well known for her talent as a social chameleon. Whatever the situation, her emotions change to flow with the tide of events, hiding her true intentions under a gracious smile. Beyond that, she is rebellious to the core against the traditions that her family placed upon her or any rule that has ever been placed on her that never sat right with her morals. Though she she says why, she has an almost insane hatred for the Vatican and takes every opportunity to make it well known to them. She is prone to fits of madness due to her constantly masking and repressing real emotions. Ada is by no means perfect, but she is not all bad either. She has a motherly side to her for children and will always help out those in need of her help. Like those of her heritage, she adores the liberal arts and will spend most of her free time practicing dancing, painting, or singing. She also has a keen interest for acting, seeing as it is very helpful in her work.
Ada's dislikes vary on the day, the weather, and other factors that are beyond her control and just might set her off. They can be narrowed down quite easily if one is with her long enough. The first and most obvious would the Vatican Church. Ignorance is a close second as she views it to be the origin of all sin. Lastly, she despises betrayal. Since she began her obsessive hunt for the Vatican, she has become rather lonesome and is forced to hear her own mad thoughts. She is grateful for any company, but becomes infuriated when they turn on her.

Organization: At first none for several reasons. Her rogue nature makes it difficult for her to follow rules, much less orders. She finds that the less rules she has to abide by, the calmer she will be. On occasion though, she has yearned for the company of other and for a sense of purpose. She will never confess this due to her fierce sense of independence, though other have claimed this is really arrogance on her part. Recently she has joined the Knights of the Damned, curious and amused that they were once part of the Vatican themselves. Her time with them will prove to be an interesting one, perhaps the very purpose she needed.

Weapon of choice: Ada has the psyhic ability to absorb light and retain the energy for long periods of time; she can control the amount and concentration of light that she releases from any portion of unexposed skin to another body. Her body is like a simple electrical circuit: any device that generates light runs through her fingers similar to electricity running through wire. Once she removes herself from the device, the circuit is closed and the light continues to run through her body like electricity. Whenever exhausted or fighting in dark areas, she use an artificial light source to "recharge". Artificial light is weaker compared to natural light, often giving her headaches after absorbing it. This unique ability is very effective in battle as both a defensive and offensive weapon against supernatural creatures.

Abilities: Ada's strength lies in both her intelligence and her speed. She is a natural tactician, thinking ahead and planning each attack that is both crippling and deadly. After years of studying graphs of the human anatomy with her parents, she knows where to strike and how quickly she eradicate her enemy before fleeing the scene. Despite her figure, she is quite agile, capable of dodging an attack that would have killed others. She is faster than she looks which gives her an advantage in battle. Her plan is always based on four steps: Plan, Cripple, Attack, and Finish. Being human of course, Ada does not have the luxury of being able to regenerate her wounds or have the supernatural means to go against supernatural enemies and survive. Her mind is often crippled by madness during times of high emotional stress; this can either render her completely useless or send her in a frenzy. She has the average strength of a healthy human as well as the average reflexes. She is considerably weak compared to Ghouls or even Freaks, but her unpredictability is her saving grace. Her greatest weakness is her heart: she will protect her allies to the point of her own death.

Biography:

The once warm blue eyes turned frigid as the bespectacled man spoke of theories and that perhaps she secretly blamed her family for her...disease. He spoke of -or rather, assumed- a possibility that her anger toward the Holy Vatican Church was misplaced and overblown annoyance at being made to follow social rules. You should know better, Miss Nomine-

"Nephyre."

"Pardon?" The good doctor seemed surprise that she stopped him in his lecture. A man of position and profession was to be respected, not interrupted so rudely and abruptly.

"If you want to address me, Doctor, address me by my proper name. Please." Ada added afterward, smiling as politely as she could, hoping he would not hear the sound of her hands slowly and surely tearing apart the journal he had given her. What was the point? The man was clearly an idiot, a quack, a dunce only certified by a slip of paper and not experience.

"As your psychiatrist, I will be using your birth name, as should you. This alias you've created is nothing but a mask you've used to distance yourself from your own actions. Attacking the Church! And so far you have not given me a good reason why you did so, except that they somehow wronged you in the past." It was at this moment he placed a gentle hand on hers, to which she recoiled from with disgust. He sighed and continued on wearily, "If you ever want to leave here, you cannot continue to act like this."

A mocking grin came to Ada's features before she spoke in her low lilting voice, "Meaning I have to spill my guts to you so that you have a 'good' reason to drug me with medicine and strap me into a straitjacket? You have a sense of humor after all. Still, seeing as you won't stop blabbering unless I do, why not? I mean, it's not as if you will be going anywhere anytime soon."
There was an unsettling effect in that last sentence, but he did not have time to ask what she meant as she leaned back in her chair...

---
I was born in Montefalco during the early 1980's into a world where all you ever needed was to be baptized as a Catholic and know how to live. For me life was simple, though it never began that way. My mother told me that when I was young, our light would always go out. The bulbs were never burned out. Just empty as she put it. It was not until later that they figured out that it was me. Anything that could give light, I took it away. You could say I'm like a sponge; I just soak it all up. They could give no logical explanation, other than that it was a gift from God. I do not know how to explain it either. Call it a gift or curse. It does not matter to me.

As you know, my parents are well-known for their accomplishments in the field of cybernetics and medicine. BiOrganics Co. is a success, thanks to their research and inventions. They have helped hundreds of hospitals in need of long-lasting donor organs and thousands of people who suffered their whole life with a defective organ. Because of these achievements, they were able to give their families a comfortable life-style while never deterring from their humility. They were amazing people, wonderful parents. Even with my strange gift, Father and Mother still cared for me, even trying to help me to use it so I couldn't hurt others. In the end I had to teach myself control, but they were always there to encourage me on. I just wish I could tell them how much I loved them...

You see, a church devoted to the Vatican practice in our area funded their research and all of their experiments out of "charity". It was all in secret because of their code, which strictly forbids. They supported the concept of sustaining life using modern technology. Simple, clean, effective. My parents had enough money to be able to accomplish anything they dreamed off as they had hoped. But soon...Soon the other shoe dropped once they came to public with their first accomplishment, letter after letter speaking of debts to be paid began to arrive in the mail. Banks began hounding them on the phone and bills were piling up on our doorstep. Suing them would only have brought the legal system into it, which was an unwanted alternative. No, they simply kept the pressure on them, accusing them of being greedy as well as trying to wipe God from the minds of the people with their heathen inventions. Tell me how that makes sense! It did not, not even after they shut down the labs, and not even after my parents ended their own lives afterward did it ever make sense.

It began to become clear to me that any institution that claimed with such self-righteousness that they are the children of God, that they abide by the Holy Bible and all its rulings, and yet manipulate my parents in such an evil manner, should have their own judgment enacted upon them. Yet what do you think the police said after I brought them the bills and the letters as proof? I made them myself! I was clearly disturbed if I was going so far as to blackmail the church! It was only after I tried to burn down a nunnery of theirs that I was shipped off to this lovely asylum.

---

"Now do you say I have no good reason for what I have done?" She paused for a moment before grinning serenely at the doctor, who was slumped over onto his desk, gasping and pawing at his throat. As Ada stood from her chair, she set a small empty glass bottle on his desk.
"A little concoction of my own that I put into your drink while you were rattling off your theories. You should be more aware when around the criminally insane. Do you wish to say goodbye? No? Well than, I bid you a good day, Doctor." She patted his head and opened the window, letting the winter breeze flow into the room as she climbed out into the outside world.

RP Sample:

"Will someone please tell the driver to turn that God-awful music off?" Ada yanked her newly-bought sunhat further down her head until she could cover her throbbing ears. It was not like her to be a music snob and certainly not like her to be so openly disdainful outside of work. However, the American music that was now filling the bus had touched a certain nerve within her. Maybe it was the nasally voice that was switching between more pitches than the human ear could handle. The rapper that sounded as though he was having a coughing fit every few seconds or so? The over-synthesized music that resembled the caterwaul of a dying cat? Whatever, it was doing irreparable damage to her musically-trained ears. And it certainly didn't help with these idiot teenagers around her that were headbanging to the din like neanderthals. Another good reason not to have kids, she thought to herself as she gave them an evil glare, since they will only turn into hulking beasts.

Generally, people don't post up their bios via rp but I must say you handled it quite well. Your writing style is excellent and all sections of your sheet are very detailed and well thought out. You seem like a fine candidate for the Knights. Well done Ada.

Please change your Clothing description to a paragraph, not a list. Also, please include your 'Likes' and 'Dislikes' into the Personality section; there is no need to separate them. After these corrections are made, I will approve.

The more I think about it, technically your Weapons and Abilities sections are almost able to be combined. BUT that is neither here nor there. You have stuck it out through the edits, and you have been a joy to work with. Glad to have you!

Your Bio tells you how you became how you are today. Your Bio in the format of an RP sample and WILL NOT be accepted.

Reason is, everyone has to do an RP sample and include a Bio. No if's, and's, or but's and its only fair.

Until you've done that, this sheet is VOIDED of its votes. IE, all you need to do is post a bio; you already have the RP samples. Easy fix really. Just transfer what you have up into the RP sample section and then type up the bio.

Moved to dis-approved due to the fact that a 'guest' account made this, and it has been marked WIP for some time.

Locked and dropped.
