Dibs on Black and their hax regen.

--------------------------------

A cold Northerly wind blew bitterly across the top of the hundreds of headstones that lined the massive yard of graves, flanked by a surrounding city and all its inhabitants. Overhead, dark clouds blotted out the full moon from time to time, casting the centuries old cemetery into an inky blackness. Lightening flashed in the distance, indicating a storm was brewing under the cover of such eery sky's. A fitting scene for the man who stood before final resting place of so many. Amongst them was a lone man, dressed in black clothing with a triangle on his chest pointing downward, five lines radiating upward from the base. The mans hand outstretched before him above the graves with authority as he called out.

"The Blackest Night falls from the skies,

The darkness grows as all light dies.

We crave your hearts and your demise,

By my black hand, the dead shall rise!"

His voice could be heard, but by more than just the living. Dozens of hands rose forth from the ground, the zombies shattering their coffin lids and digging themselves free from the soon to be moist soil at the call of the Black Lantern and his ring. They broke free from their earthly prison and rose, their combined cries and moans echoing through the nightly air with a sense of abandon.

Far above Earth, a small, red twinkle appeared in the sky. It pulsated and shone with a vibrant glow, seeming to grow bigger as time went by. It began to take the shape of a person, a red tail streaking from a forcefield held around his body. Flames burst from his head, his eyes white with rage, and a loud roar escaped his lips as he rocketed towards the graveyard. Crimson plasma escaped his lips, frothing around his mouth and dribbling behind him as he flew, heading straight for the man in black. This was the man who killed his family. This was the man who turned him into a monster of hatred. This was who he had to kill him, and the flying tackle at around mach six speed should be a good start.

The roar of the Red Lantern was heard very clearly, even over the mindless moans of the now walking corpses that stood before the man in black. The sound was familiar him, in fact, it reminded him of the one that got away years ago. He wouldn't escape this time. Clenching his fist, the Black Lantern was quick to react to the incoming threat by having his ring create an energy construct of a dome over the horde of zombies in front of him with several cannon-like protrusions forming on the surface. What followed next was dozens of zombies being launched like cannon balls, fully intact, toward the speeding Red where they would no doubt make attempts to latch onto.

The zombies weren't the only threat being fired, however, as underneath the flying corpses being launched from the black dome construct were two cannons unlike the rest; two that fired different ammo. Replacing the undead husks that the others fired, these released quick, rapid bursts of black energy beams toward the monster of hatred in the shape of black skulls, constructs that were fully capable of bringing down several buildings with the power they possessed. The beams and their rapid succession of fire would act much like a Gatling gun, creating large bullets of black energy which would collide head on with the incoming Red.

The zombies launched at him were blown apart by the speed, his forcefield being enough to destroy their bodies upon impact. However, the skull bullets were a problem. Connecting, several blasted the Red Lantern back before he could make a defense; being human, he'd learned to control his mind and create the constructs common to the other colors of the spectrum. A large pyramid shape was created from red energy to block the bullets, the black smashing against the shield without effect. From the base, a body was formed, one of a muscular man wearing a bloodied smock with rubber boots and gloves. In its hand was an oversized sword, which it lifted above its head to attempt to break through the dome. Continually siphoning energy into the creature, it was in no danger of collapsing against the black blasts.

The zombies, much to the Black Lanterns expectations, held little results in their flailing attempts to grab the speeding mass of rage and anger, but the black skull constructs did their job. Several pushed him back, but the creation that soon followed rendered the bullets ineffective. The pyramid shape provided a defensive measure, but the crash of its sword against the domes surface solidified the fact that this was no longer a viable option. Clenching his fist, the black power ring on the semi-decayed mans middle finger glowed with a dim light as the dome began to contort once again the moment the sword was pulled back for another strike at its surface. The construct that followed was one of a large, curved blade; similar to that of a scythe. A large handle was grasped by black skeletal arms as the large black mass rose up behind it, taking the shape of a faceless shadow in the resemblance of death.

The scythe blade would catch the next strike with the top of its blade and parry it to the side before bringing the blade forward in a swing toward the pyramid headed colossus's neck. Stein took advantage of this moment to get into the air, using his ring's ability to levitate a safe distance behind his Death construct to be on equal level with his red nemesis.

The pyramid monster wasn't cutting it anymore (though the first swing did a fairly nice job). Deciding to abandon ship, John created a diamond-shaped cocoon around himself, blasting through the chest of his own construct as it was beheaded, heading to do the same to the Death creature and, not long after, the man controlling it. The construct was sharp and strong, reinforcing the shape as he went over and over by creating smaller and smaller layers inside it.

The Deathly construct made quick work of the sword wielding colossus, though it would be a short lived victory as the John abandoned the clash of blades and flew through his own constructs chest, and directly for his. Clasping one hand around his wrist with his ring hand pointed toward his approaching foe as it punched through the death construct with ease, he manipulated the dark energy his ring gave off to create a new, more fitting substance to fit the situation at hand. One that had the same flexible, elastic properties as rubber; which would hopefully allow the black energy mass to stretch out and absorb the impact without suffering the same fate as the death creature, build up the tension, and then bounce the enraged crimson man from the way he came.

Anthony flew into this battle with his near useless blue ring. But when he said near useless he meant it. There were still a couple of things he could do in this battle.

Anthony was a master of this rings powers. He will not having the greatest ability to harness any form of emotion had no troubles with hope. In fact it was all he had.

Anthony in his blue lantern uniform that he modified to look like a priest uniform dove downward and then pulling himself up at the last minute and soaring through the air into the horde of zombies cut through them for an entire twenty feet until he pulled up again.

As he had soared down he surrounded himself in a barrier that looked like a bird with wings. Only the shoulders and the arms became like blades and the head like a point.

He fly to ground and landing hard he went down to one knee with his ring fist on the ground. He switched his barrier into that of an oval looking one from the top but once again from around his legs and above his head his barrier cam up and down until they met seven feet away from his body. This sudden formation of a sharp circle cut through more of these undead fiends.

He let down his barrier and as the zombies swarmed him he jumped in the air and flipped. Mid flip he let loose the most powerful burst of energy he could (which wasn't much) on the collected zombies below. This pushed him up and he drifted up with his powers of flight a little bit more and constructed a pill shaped barrier around himself as soon as his feet left the ground.

The rubber band was a problem. He only had a few seconds to pull this off. As the black construct tensed against his red, he raised his arms forward, creating a portal just big enough for his body to fit through. Using the last forward power of the strike, he slipped through, his construct dissipating as it was flung back. He came out flying from behind his opponent, a mouthful of plasma foaming over his lips. He vomited with all the force he could, aiming for the body, going in for a tackle if the acidic fluid couldn't connect. Though he didn't notice him, he felt the presence of the Blue Lantern on the ground. As long as he stayed the distance, though, his ring shouldn't be affected.

The red man had disappeared from inside his cocoon a mere moment before it was flung back, seeming to disappear. He knew the threat Red Lanters posed, even with his stacked regeneration ability, he couldn't be so careless as to remain stationary when he had lost sight of his target. Just as the red construct dissipated as it was flung back, a black orb of energy formed around the black lantern; preparing to drop down into the graveyard like a rocket to greet the blue nuisance below with a rather large impact, only to have the back of the sphere being coated with a plasma like substance that resembled napalm and acid mixed together.

Luckily he kept his superhuman abilities after being resurrected, as he was able to fly up with enough time to avoid being hit directly in the back by the super heated plasma as it cut through his construct; slamming into his lower back and hip. Semi-rotted flesh and bone melted away, but no pain was felt. Clenching his fist once again as he now knew where his nemesis was, and unaffected by the searing pain that would of plagued any other being due to his lack thereof, the back sphere construct expanded at an extreme rate the moment after impact, much like the shockwave from an explosion, to intercept the Red charging full throttle into it. The expansion also repaired the hole burnt in by the plasma. Taking extra precautions on the matter, the outer layer of the sphere formed black spines to impale anyone attempting to get in close; which would have several of them shoot off of the expanding spear as it grew.

The zombies below weren't faring so well, however, but that was to be expected. They weren't strong individually, not enough to take on lanterns individually, but their strength lay in their numbers. Dozens fell before the Blue below them, only for several dozens more to rise from the hundreds of graves that made up the forest of tombstones below to replace those fallen. Stein wasn't worried about the Blue at the moment, the threat, much larger in scope, was the red embodiment of rage.

These zombies were about to become an increasingly dangerous problem if allowed to continue growing a this rate. while he wished to help out the red lantern at least for the moment to take down this black lantern fiend he knew that the best he could give him was to stay far away from him so as to allow his powers to operate at maximum potential. Now after the near devastating attack that was about to have been made on him by this black lantern stopped by the red one. He was only all the more determined to stay out of his way.

Flying back a little Anthony stopped periodically to create a barrier around himself and just continue to slice through the zombies with the sharp edges created around his arms. He hoped that he could keep these zombies at bay and that he would be able to distract them enough to the point where they would all follow him.

Stopping the swinging motion of his arms Anthony came up with a faster way to decimate these forces. He slide back and forth and left to right while creating around his body a sort of curved blade in the direction of the zombies. It was not a large one. perhaps only five feet in length but was able to cut through eight or so zombies with each pass. This blade being apart of his shield did not take away from the barrier that he covered himself in however without the presence of a green lantern this was perhaps the limits of his usefulness.

when ever an increasingly dangerous horde arose near him Anthony would scatter them a bit by releasing a small burst of hopeful energy. At the moment the power of hope was very easy to manifest. He hoped that the red lantern would win. He hoped that he could distract these zombies. He hoped beyond hope that the black lantern wouldn't turn his attacks towards him.

Those spikes would be a problem. Luckily, grain threshers were a bigger problem. Creating a sizable one out of red energy, it began to turn at extreme speeds to eat away at the spikes and move into the sphere. Smacking into his own construct (preferable to the spikes, though), his rage grew along with his forcefield, which swirled around his body like flames. Backing away, he created three more of the same constructs on three sides of the sphere in relation to the first. Around that, he made a comically large safe and attempted to drop it into the ground on top of some of the reanimated corpses.

"Power Level 50%," his ring announced. Damn, he wouldn't last much longer if he kept spitting out constructs like he was. He'd need to call out his battery soon, but at the moment, his mind was on anything but recharging; all he wanted to do was kill that man.

Now THIS was a fight he could get behind. The dead were rising, a single blue ray of hope flickered in the distance and rage roared long and loud for all to hear. The Blue and Red ringslingers seemed to be focusing their attention on the Black Lantern for the moment. It made sense considering the zombified monstrosity's regenerative powers and constructs. However, it would be a lie to say that he was not still bitter to have been passed over for a crimson ring. Was his rage not enough? Was the source of his slight truly so unreasonable? Seeing the man before him wield the red power so flippantly was too much. The yellow ring on his right middle finger flared vibrantly as he created a large bow construct in his left hand, easily taller than himself and infinitely more powerful than any corporeal bow. Nocking a large construct arrow covered in strange barbs, he fired the yellow weapon from his vantage point just below the cloud cover aimed at the center of the Red Lantern's back. Impaling the unawares Red would be nice yes, but even better was what would come after as the barbed arrow would shattering into dozens of smaller copies stemming from barbs, exploding outwards as javelin shaped shrapnel.

Tsk, this was getting far more troublesome that he had wanted. He could not feel pain, so the red plasma burning into his lower back and right hip wasn't a problem at the moment. However, the fact that he was now surrounded on all sides by grain threshers, inside a safe, now plummeting toward the ground at a rapid rate, was definitely something to take interest in. Thinking quickly, the madman clenched his fist once again as his ring began to glow with a dim light. Two more constructs formed along with his sphere. One was the spikes that were slowly being withered away at by the grinders quickly changing shape, taking the form of large, thick black chains with multiple chains branching out from each other, which were lined with large skull-shaped weights at each end to add a better chance of them getting entangled in the grinder, hopefully stopping them long enough for him to escape. The second was a chair like protrusion from the bottom of the sphere to help him brace for the impact of hitting the ground.

The sudden tremor the lantern felt indicated he had hit the ground, but luckily his chair-idea had worked. Taking the opportunity, he opened a hole just large enough for him to fit through in the top of his sphere, allowing a third construst - this one in the shape of a blow torch - access to the safe roof above him to begin cutting an exit for himself.

(OOC I am Anthony Diem)

Anthony felt the prescence of the yellow lantern and saw his bow shooting arrows towards what he had dubbed big red. Anthony decided that whatever happened in this battle would probably not help out very much. He was hoping that between these three powerful wielders of the lanterns light that without a green to back him up completely out ranked him would end up all killing each other off. But not even he could hope for that to happen without some interference.

Looking at the yellow lantern and not particularly liking the essence of fear which basically accused hope of being useless he decided to take a break from hacking through these mounds of zombies. Rocketing of his feet and creating a barrier around himself he flew fast as he could at the yellow lantern with his barrier which covered his body yet around his fists which were held together above his head there formed a curved blade only five feet in length the middle of which was centered on his two pointing fingers which were together. Another one taking literally all of his ability and concentration to do this, also formed in the middle of that blade making a formed x of sorts.

He soared directly at the yellow lantern and regardless of if he hit him or not he would keep flying for three seconds past him at full speed and then start moving in a zig zag pattern for another three to dodge hopefully any additional blows. then he would veer hard to the left and away from the red lantern so as not to distract him from his battle.

There wasn't much time to check whether his attack had killed the Black Lantern (it had not, as the threshers were clogged and the safe was being broken), as a shrill whistling noise cut through the air behind him. He turned slightly before the arrow hit, the various pieces cracking and breaking through his forcefield in parts. Though his body was cut, he did not bleed; only a thick plasma escaped at a slow rate. This attack only served to anger him more. Turning away from the safe, he created a large boxing glove construct with spikes on the knuckles, launching it at the Fear Lantern with a roar. The Blue Lantern was coming up fast, too. He would probably hit the yellow (if his attack connected) at about the same time as his own attack.

PostSubject: Re: Lanterns Unite!   Lanterns Unite! EmptySun Jun 30, 2013 11:55 pm

Surprisingly, it was the blue lantern that chose to engage him first. Perhaps it was for the best. With the light of hope gone fear could bubble forth anew, perhaps even in the heart of the black lantern now that the only nearby source of weakness for the crimson berserker was gone. This was, of course, only if he could put down the blue fast and hard. Thankfully there was no green presence in the area so it shouldn't be too difficult. Calling upon the powers of the yellow fear, the yellow ringslinger sent forth a yellow humanoid construction on an intercept course for the blue with as much speed as he could manage. It was a near perfect doppleganger of the blue lantern, save for his more subtle facial features, twisted into a haughty sneer revealing two rows of sharpened fangs and demonic reptilian eyes. The warrior of hope feared his own potential for corruption. All too easy.

The yellow doppleganger would intercept the blue short of the yellow lantern himself, attempting a powerful charging tackle as that arrogant sneer never wavered. The the construct would then speak in a voice identical to the blue lantern, the final layer of seasoning for basting the fear turkey. "You can tell you're outmatched already! How can you rely on Will when no one can actually rely on you!? You need more power to do anything! You know that!"

As his construct dealt with the Blue Lantern, the yellow warrior had just enough time to raise a personal force field around himself to guard against the impact of the boxing glove. Though uninjured, he was sent tumbling black a fair distance from the force. In response, he brought his own ring to bare, firing three spherical blasts of energy at the crimson lantern. Though simple orbs at first glance, they had a bit more kick to them then that. The orbs were targeted to the red lantern, moving to track and pursue him should he actually try and avoid them.

The blowtorch cut through the safe walls just as it was designed to, cutting a door large enough for him to fit through, the black lantern burst forth from his temporary prison to freedom, shooting into the sky. Turing to face the three lanterns before him, his power ring illuminated once again before constructing a large arrangement of tubes - similar to cannons - infront of him that reached several dozen yards in length - three rows stacked. Staying true to his "Doctor" role he had in a previous life, each of the cannon-like tubes began to rapid fire constructs of razor sharp scalpels toward the Red and Blue. He had wanted to save the Blue boy for last, but since he put himself in such a perfect position for it, he figured he might as well try for a two for one. The yellow lantern would come last.

Anthony's inner struggles rage inside of him, The image was not only a frightening imagination of the creators mind. But the nightmare that he feared he himself could become. However while the fears of his heart were brought to his minds attention it rather than push him way from hope for himself and his future pushed him into a deeper need a deeper want for life saving hope. Now rather than hope being his driving force it became his crutch. In a desperate move made by Anthony he created assort of slide. That was on his right it curved to the point where some one using it would fly the left if they wen on it. Anthony used this slide to maintain his momentum and ram into the construct from the side. Switching his shields blades to his feet he hope he had ripped through this under handed construct. He would not remain long enough to find. Kicking off of the blade part of his construct he left that behind where it would dissipate. Flying backward at intense speeds He also concentrated on increasing his shields near his feet to block out the blacks attacks.

Coming from a tactical approach he flew now out of the way of most of these attacks. However when one of these attacks hit him he constructed a spiked along his barriers that would skewer it and then more spikes sticking out of the shaft of the spike that would stop it. This plan worked moderately. The blast was stopped from hitting him but his shields nearly shattered. He was thrown backwards with much force and was barley able to maintain his current barriers.

Having knocked away his opponents, the Red Lantern was able to notice the black scalpel cannons coming at him. He formed a barrier to block the attacks before pressing forward into them. However, this was cut short, as the yellow blasts came towards him. Evading, the shield following his movements, he realized the yellow was doing the same. This only served to piss him off. Changing the barrier, he created a great red shark, using it to swallow all three blasts and block the black energy, his personal forcefield picking up the slack. As the blasts exploded inside the shark, it began to crumble under the numerous attacks. Charging forth, it was only hoped as the equivalent of tossing a space brick through a space window; damaging, but nothing serious. It was meant to crash into the cannon constructs, taking out a few of them as it shattered. "Power Level 40%, the irritating hunk of metal on his finger announced.
