PostSubject: i think i've got it this time WIP   i think i've got it this time WIP EmptyWed Apr 18, 2012 11:41 pm

so i just got done fixing up my character sheet and i think i've got it right this time! let me know what you think

Name: Benny Giovanni

Aliases: Wildman; Alien; Crazy 18 (because he has a “disorder” affecting his brain, and that he is a quirky one, he purposely depicts himself to be crazy or a non-common human); Little One (because he is sort of new and that he is the “little one”); Little Lemur (a Native-American style nickname, referring to his agility and the word ‘lemur’ means ‘ghost’, referring to his difficulty to be identified by those who don’t know him as well as his jacket having an ominous look on him)

Benny uses codenames for every mission he goes on, the catch is that he changes them and uses a different one every mission, while discussing with his team. He does this for security reasons. It is a measure that if he is to communicate with another operative with a form that the enemy can intercept, “tap”, or listen in on, the enemy cannot link the codenames. They will be confused and think that separate operatives are on the case, when these codenames are actually the same operative. This gives Benny the element of surprise, because since the enemy can’t link a codename to him they won’t know what to expect.

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Physical Appearance: Crazy is about 5’ 8” in height. He has a skinny build; his body isn’t very bulky at all. He is a little bit muscular, however, call it “skinny-buff”. He has a whitish-yellow skin tone. His feet are kind of big, so his shoes stick right out from his bootcut jeans. He has bony hands & fingers. He is Italian-American, with facial features packed tightly & low on his face, so it looks as if he has a big forehead. He has deep blue eyes which aren’t very wide open. His hair is brunette with a lot of soft spikes in it. His ears tend to stick out a lot compared to normal from a lack cartilage in them.

Clothing of Choice: Crazy wears bootcut jeans all the time, never slim jeans. He believes that slim jeans look stylish on some guys; he’s just not one of those guys. He wears a black jacket, long like a trenchcoat, with a white tee-shirt underneath. He wears arm-covers for protection, in which these also hold his six kunai. Covering his eyes are large, silver sunglasses like the ones that sheriffs wear. He loves hats other than baseball caps because they’re so common. So he likes hats like fedoras, hunting caps, & many other quirky kinds of hats. He wears a black fedora with a white ribbon. He wears basketball-type sneakers, in which have a triangular shape when seen from the side, with sole that covers a bit of the heel & the toe that protrudes from underneath his pant legs. Crazy has a big, purple scarf surrounding his neck like a snake. He carries a satchel to hold other supplies.

Weaponry of Choice: Crazy has an arsenal that consists of an M1911, an M95A3 with a red dot sight, a katana, & a set of 6 kunai.

The M1911 is an American handgun that uses .45 ACP’s. Crazy supplies it with silver plated bullets, specially for vampires. He keeps it in a holster on the back of his belt, pretty much hidden by his own body and his coat. He will use it like anyone would use a handgun: careful shooting or a quick switch to something when a mag runs out on a different weapon while in a situation that runs on split seconds. Using the silver plated bullets, his tactic against vampires is to wound them with a different, more powerful weapon to render them vulnerable, then deal a blow with this weapon deadly as long as the vampire targeted isn’t a very high-category one. He supplies just this weapon with silver bullets, because they are expensive and fully-automatic weapons will quickly leak them away.

The MP5 family is a family of modern, German submachine guns, which use the classic 9X19 mm Parabellum handgun round. The MP5A3 is a member of this family which has a buttstock that can be pulled out. He keeps one with a detachable red dot sight in a large pocket in his jacket. He may use it to engage on multiple targets at once by “mowing” them down. Sometimes he will use this when navigating tight environments like inside buildings & hallways. He will pull it out if an opponent appears on the scene & engages suddenly using only one hand, because it can be an emergency measure when things happen in a second. In some other cases, he may pull the stock out for accuracy based engagements.

Katana are old Japanese swords. These are long with a single edge, they may weigh around the same as a traditional sword and lighter than 3-dementional ones. Crazy was able to make his own so he can fight opponents who fight at close range or with a sword. He stores it in a scabbard on the side of his belt, being one of the only weapons you see before he draws it. He will use it for the typical sword-fighting seen everywhere, yet with a katana’s length he can distance himself from his opponent while maintaining control of the weapon. He had his blessed so that it may more damage to vampires than the conventional cut would do to them, depending on the type of vampire he is pitted up against.

Kunai are Japanese throwing knives, preferred by ninjas. Crazy puts these in his arm covers, ready to be pulled out easily at any given point in time, in which you could barely see them by the ring pommels. He will use his set of six that he made in the same way: he will throw these at his opponents in quick ordeals. He also tends to use these for self-defense, as in if someone grabs him with the intentions to harm him or sneak-attacks him and he finds out, he will resort to these kunai. He will use these as a personal-defense weapon, in which he can store easily & be mostly hidden, yet he can whip them out at moment’s notice. They have also been blessed so they too will pack a punch on weak vampires.

Race: Human

Abilities: Crazy doesn’t have any direct superpowers, as he is a human. He does have a sensory mechanism that means that he senses threats especially from the paranormal. He fights with martial arts types of fighting, and that includes the ability to turn his opponent’s force against them. He isn’t very physically strong, but he is agile. He will vault over objects often and jump over things on his way to a destination, like a simple parkourist. He has a big imagination and can make some impressive art for his age.

Organization: Hellsing Organization

Personality: Crazy is a big softy when it comes to being social, pretty gentle, so he hates to hear that he hurt someone’s feelings. He is agitated by the smell of failure, and can become temperamental or get frustrated when he starts messing up. He can be shy around women his age, especially those he finds attractive. He loves to meet new people, so he is thrilled to visit new places. He likes to crack jokes every once in a while and play with his own words, or making new figurative language. He isn’t fond of loud sounds very much, however, but he has gotten used to the sounds of guns, having being around them all the time. He is a bit of a wandering soul, as well as a pretty quirky one.

Crazy is really into art and music, as in that he likes seeing intricate designs on things and crazy sculptures, as well as being open to trying a new artist in music because he likes all kinds of music, as long as he doesn’t hear any one artist or song to much. He likes to draw his own art & superheroes and listen to music on spare time, occasionally going to a firing range at the Hellsing Organization to test a new weapon or hone his skills on his own weapons.

He is rather open-minded to new topics & material, looking to hear people’s thoughts & ideas. This includes the fact that when in conflicts, Crazy is able to understand multiple points of view while maintaining his own beliefs or preferences and come up with a compromise. He is the trustworthy type; he never lies to his clients. When there is a task he needs to do, like paperwork, he really wants to get it done & as soon as possible.

You can call him a firearms enthusiast or specialist; he isn’t good at using every kind of firearm, but knows a good deal about them and may know his way around a gun he hasn’t actually seen in person. He can be sympathetic even in battle, in which he goes by “kill-or-maim”.

Rank: Trainee

Biography: Crazy was born in Connecticut as & still is a human. He was born with what is legally considered a disorder. Normally this disorder hinders one’s social prose, but subjects also make up for this in physical or mental ability. It is a form of Autism. Subjects also gain attachments even with inanimate objects, in the present case of Benny he is attached to things like his hat & his sword.

Because of this, Crazy has been ridiculed & persecuted for his “disability” only because he has it, looked down on by the misinformed, ignorant, mean, or prejudging because years back they were able to tell that he had something “wrong” with him. His family moved to California where they have family for him to get away from the dangers of the city. He began to get depressed, but always at least slightly trusted his faith in God that he is something and that God has a plan for him. He also trusted that he was a good artist and that this was what he WAS complimented on. He has immense artistic & mental ability and is extremely good with his hands. I heard it was therapy that explains why he seems so normal to a deep extent. Even now, he has a bit of a time understanding what teenagers mean when they use non-explicit sarcasm or knowing some terms that people use a lot, which won’t be listed here because they aren’t very nice words/phrases if you know what I mean.

He grew tired finding out about lives being taken by the paranormal type of threat, as well as those who still being tortured by the menace. Once, even he was threatened. His family was killed by an unwelcome demon when he was sixteen, and he was next. He had a really bad feeling one day, simply being in his own house. Suddenly his family was attacked & killed by surprise by a demon that shattered through one of the house’s windows. The demon looked him to the face, floating over the dead bodies, and Benny knew by that look he was next. It was the will to fight & his possession of art supplies that was symbolic and saved his life, including a pencil & paints, so that should be a hint. For a while, he was suffering from post-traumatic stress, like he was “shell-shocked”.

Now he has the spirit & the will to fight for his life, freedom, friends that he DOES have, & what he believes in. That was when he bought an M1911 and made himself a katana & six kunai, which he had blessed. He also had a bitter hatred for any supernatural forces that intend to strike the average living world. Some vampires are an exception because they are in a way still human, plus stronger types have to drink blood far less often.

He had signed up before this into a 4-H club which various kinds of projects in it. He took on a lot for a single member, one of them being forging. He used these skills he had gained back then to build his own katana & kunai some time after the attack. He also incorporated his drawing skills & imagination into designing these weapons.

He had no FORMAL firearms training, but this doesn’t mean that he wasn’t taught anything at all. Actually, he has a grandfather who lives on a farm, partially a gun-type hunter. He taught Benny everything there is to know in general of firearms because he knew of Benny’s curious, from how to clean them, to aim them without a scope, what different types of bullets do, right up to how they really work and the reason for certain procedures. One of his friends is an adult as a former marine, who taught Benny even more about them. He began research more firearms as an interest & to get familiar with them in case he is ever pitted against one or had to go with a new “toy” (he doesn’t actually think of them as toys, he knows they’re dangerous and he uses the word like this in the slang sense). He knows much about guns, like the inner workings of the gas-powered AK-47 or the weight of an M-249 SAW light machine gun.

He did however take a karate class once. He used to practice every once in a while to make sure his skills didn’t grow dull. As immature & impractical as it sounds, he also got tips online from book-like sources on other moves as well as kendo, but he was very particular& careful to look for legitimate sources.

He found out about the Hellsing Organization and knew this was his chance. He had the diamond hard determination to please them, with a go-big attitude, while keeping his “difference” (he eventually learned not to see it as a disability, but even an advantage) a secret. Once he was accepted, he was then issued an MP5A3 and was assigned to “Taskforce Black Jacket”, so they keep an eye out for him, where he looks up to Operative Johnson as a big brother figure to fill the void.

Johnson is one of the lead operatives in the taskforce. He isn’t as serious as “Big Shot” is, in fact he can be a bit light with his words or attitude. At the same time, he will grasp the seriousness of a situation and use his words to relate to his comrades, firing them up to perform their best. He was the one that looked out for him every once in a while, so he knows Benny quite well. He gives Benny a little training advice every once in a while, with criticism of the instructive kind used if any criticism. So Benny tends to look at Johnson as like an uncle or a brother filling in for the brother he lost.

Now, he is still a nice guy who is also a light joker so that his secret hard attitude doesn’t come out wrong and hurt someone’s feelings, but he will joke about the enemy for the fun of ticking them off. He is also a quirky young fellow & the “little one” of the pack. As said, he still has the tough motive to get a job done, as well as to make sure it is done right, which he presents in not-so-hard, but a straight & to-the-point fashion. He gets very angry if someone or something threatens the ones he “loves”, as he cares dearly for others, he believes the reason is so that they don’t suffer the same way he did.

RP Sample: It’s just another day at the firing range for Operative Crazy, visiting as if he was just another weapon-enthused guy looking to fire a gun. He is honing his skill on & testing a Beretta M9. Operative Johnson walks through the squeaky door, made squeaky so those shooting know they’re not being snuck up on. Johnson pauses for a minute, knowing his friend, Crazy, that guy has probably been at the firing line for a while. Turns out ...PAH……PAH…, Crazy is blowing off brass through a peashooter. Crazy stops shooting for a moment, flips the safety on and turns around.

“Safe! Oh, hey Johnson!”

“Hey Crazy! I was lookin’ for ya. I wanted to check up on you ‘cuz you seem to be a pretty curious little guy. I knew I would find you at a local firing range, somehow.”

Crazy explains, “Oh did you? Well, one of the operatives picked off one of these Beretta (rattling his tongue at the ‘r’, he says ‘that’s how you’re supposed to say it’) M9’s and wanted to check with me to see if it was safe. Course, you would think it was if someone was using it in the first place, then again, you can never be too careful.”

“You seem to know a lot about this stuff. I mean, for somebody to come to you first when they just got a new weapon & it wasn’t at a gun store.”

Crazy says, “Yeeaah, I feel like I know a little too much for a guy like me, don’tcha think?”

Johnson responds, “Oh no, not at all, well…”

Crazy replies, almost laughing, “That’s ‘cuz it benefits somebody else! Well, in that case, it makes me a little bit alright with it. I mean, if some ability of yours helps somebody, might as well use it.” as he’s flipping the safety off. “… (to himself) Finish this grouping… (to Johnson) Going hot.” He then fires three more rounds PAH…PAH…PAH! The weapon’s slide then flies back as the last shot is fired.

He whispers to himself, “Well that seems to be in order!” then switches the empty magazine for a full one and clicks the slide forward again.

He says to Johnson, “Why not talk while I check the target?”

Johnson tells Crazy, “So I was thinking you might wanna leave your headpiece on or program my number into your cell phone. I mean, what if we needed you at moment’s notice or something, and we didn’t have any idea where you were or couldn’t get a hold of you?”

Crazy says to him as he gets to his perforated target, “Yeah, I see what you’re sayin’. (to himself) Dang, not that good a grouping! (to Johnson) Yeah, I don’t wanna disappoint anybody here! Just because of my own curiosities & wanderings, I don’t need anybody else to pay a price for- LOOK OUT!!!” Crazy was turning back to Johnson and realizes there is a large weapon sitting straight up-&-down on top of the long desk with a body behind it at the firing line. They have an attacker.

Crazy leans quickly to his right while going for the ground and pushes Johnson down. The attacker emits a large “POOOM” from a sniper rifle and barely misses as that bullet punches a big hole into the wall. Crazy quickly pushes himself back up and fires two suppressive rounds at the perpetrator, one appearing to have struck the weapon. “C’mon, Johnson! (reaching for his hand) Let’s say you & I take this s_head out!”

“Right!” They both run towards there hidden opponent.

“Spread out!” shouts Crazy to Johnson, knowing that it’s two against one, only the one has huge bullets! They approach the attacker at only twenty more feet away. He then rises up from his hiding place and chucks two throwing knives, one for each would-be target. Luckly they both dodge the oncoming blades and attempt to fire back at the attacker with their handguns, but he has already hidden himself once again. They slowly walk up to the desk and Crazy signs off to Johnson, telling him to stay there and that they will grab him when he rises back up from the desk. They do just that. Their attack rises back up with a handgun held in a firing position straight out in front of him to the far left, expecting them to have walked around the desk to catch him. They were smart enough to take caution of that, and so Crazy grabs his opponents firing hand and pulls it toward himself. While shifting underneath his opponents arm, Crazy hooks him in the face & flips the safety on with the same hand he used to grab the attacker’s armed hand.

“Johnson, hop the desk & grab him!” he tells Johnson as he hammers the attacker’s wrist with his armed hand and pulls the gun out, throwing down range. The attacker his finally able to grab Crazy by his jacket and pulls him in on an attempt to butt his head at Crazy’s. Crazy reacts by putting his head down so that his opponent hammers the top of it with his forehead, where a fedora is sitting.

“Ow! Jeez, you’re an aggressive one!” Crazy shouted as he was rubbing his head. He then jabs his opponent’s gut and spin-kicks his face, with his leg flying over the desk. Johnson tries to grab, but gets elbowed in the face in the process. So Crazy grabs the perp by the collar and slaps him with an ear-piercing “tch!!!” , then pulls his face to the desk. Johnson finally is able to grab the perp’s hands and cuff him.
“Hellsing Organization, you’re under arrest. Hey Crazy, who do you think this guy’s with? Iscariot? Millennium? A Wild Goose?” Johnson forces. They hand-shake and take the wannabe assailant into custody.

Crazy responds “I dunno! Oh well, either way, sucks for him! (to himself) Well that proves this thing’s reliability in battle! Man, my hat!”

PostSubject: Re: i think i've got it this time WIP   i think i've got it this time WIP EmptyFri Apr 20, 2012 5:54 pm

I'd like to start by saying he seems extremely young to be fighting vampires. He's not even a legal adult yet, meaning he couldn't even join the military, let alone something like Hellsing.

So he made his own sword... Putting aside the poor weapons choice for a human (as he really can't keep up with a vampire or any really agile people in general), I don't imagine this sword would be quality at all. Katana are made in two places: Factories and the home of sword smiths. I'm going to guess a 17 year old is not a sword smith, which is why I'm questioning how he managed to forge a sword, or for that matter, even have the materials to forge said weapon. Same with making the knives.

Abilities says he's a martial artist, but you don't go into detail of what he practices. It sounds like Jeet Kune Do, but, again, no specifics were given. I'll hold off on asking how you learned it until I read the bio. You also don't mention him knowing how to use swords, throwing knives, or having the ability to forge. It's also helpful to note he has some sense of accuracy, as that's a big part of using guns. Rule of Thumb: Put everything on your sheet, even if it seems unnecessary. If it's not there, you can't say you have it unless you learn/acquire it in the story.

Personality doesn't mention anything involving his "disorder" you mentioned in the names. Does it not affect how he acts or something?

Here we go; that disorder. It has no name and you don't go into detail at all about how it effects him besides two lines of text. It's just brushed by like it's nothing, including in the personality (at least from what I read) which actually seems to contradict what the symptoms are. Next paragraph mentions it again, yet why would people mock him for it if there's no visible signs he has it? How would they have found out, is what I'm asking?

Paragraph after that has me at a loss. How exactly did he come to find out the supernatural was real? Furthermore, why was his family attacked, what were they attacked by, and how did his art supplies save him? I know you say it should give me a hint, but I don't get what you're trying to imply.

Next paragraph, he gets weapons. So...who sold the 16 year old a gun? You also don't mention how he came to learn about sword making, as I'd hoped you would have.

Once again, no explanation on something very crucial. The Hellsing Organization is a closely guarded, secretive government task force that the general public doesn't know about. They can find the mansion, they can even research about Integra, but they could not just know they fight vampires. If Integra wants to organize the Black Jacket thing here, then that's fine, but if she says no, that won't fly. Also, who's this Johnson fellow? I'd like description of him if he's going to be an NPC (or future character?) you'll interact with regularly. It doesn't need to be in depth like a character sheet, but just an overview of him as a person and why you would look up to him.

RP samples are written in present tense. You're only allowed to post in past here, so you'll need to redo it. Also, please use paragraph breaks, especially when a new speaker says something. Right now, I'm having trouble reading the sample in full with how cluttered and confusing it is; I only know that you've used the wrong tense and that there is indeed one social and one combat post.

In short, this needs quite a bit of work; there's a lot of holes in the majority of your history and not near enough detail on what are crucial events, abilities, or weaponry.

Demons are a no-go, for starters. Still don't explain how his art supplies saved him, no matter how obvious you seem to think it is. Still don't explain how they found out about his autism, nor does it seem to have much of an impact on his personality still. You say it does, but it doesn't; not in the way autism should affect a person. A class on forging is not enough skill to actually make a sword of quality (is that even a thing?). Still don't explain how he bought a gun. Still don't explain how he found out about Hellsing. I can go on, but that would just mean repeating myself on my post before.

At least your sample is in correct format this time.

Alright crazy. I'm sorry but you're obviously not taking the time to bother to read any of the guidelines for character creation and I won't continue to pick apart your character sheet. Take some time to read some of the approved sheets an some of the disapproved sheets before you make your next edit. The next time that I come onto this sheet to vote will be my one and only vote. Take some time to go through what we have listed and if you have any questions, ask us. Sorry if this came by as too harsh.

I hate to do this to ya buddy but Ridl's already pointed out major holes in your sheet twice now and I'm still seeing them. Generally I could overlook them because you do have the potential for a decent character here but the bio kills it for me. Hellsing is a seriously secret hush hush deal with the British government. Some curious kid in California isn't just going to find out about them on the internet.

How about when you are done you post up the newer version separate that way we can all look at it correctly. Ok? All staff please hold votes till then. When the newer sheet is posted we will vote again.

No post it as a new topic. Label it redone or remake. When you do that then we can get rid of this one that way it doesn't interfere with the other.

And we've given you feedback. We've gone pretty much all we can to help you along at this point besides writing it for you. It's either done or it's not, is what I'm saying.
