Wait what Shinsengumi was a tool of the Edo Bakufu (Shogunate). Why/how the hell would they resurface? Also they were a reaction against new Meiji ideals. I think you're thinking more of people like Saigou Takamori....
:/ Claiming the Meiji could have been turned into another Shogunate seems a tad bit offensive to HM the Emperor.

you do know its an AU... there are NO cannon characters or people other than the family names orgs and factions...

I see an inherent fault in the overall premise... The Meiji restoration was not a repeat of Sengoku period; it was not transition from one shogunate to another but the restoration of rightful power of the Emperor.

lol well we're redoing the plot now XD. I know the history as well, and I talked to the WM about it so we're going to edit up and make it still fit with history yet at the same time its non cannon in terms of who leads them and all that. So for now I just deleted the story/plot.
