The Orphanage interior Empty
PostSubject: The Orphanage interior   The Orphanage interior EmptyWed Jul 17, 2013 1:58 pm

Yumiko sat down and said grace; that was after she had made sure everyone had full bowls and her and some of the other nuns and made sure that everyone had a slice of bread to go with it. She had her usual smile on and she adjusted her glasses as she sat down to say the evening prayer, “Oh Lord in heaven, bless this meal and all those in this household of the Vatican. Grant us the strength to carry on through the trials you lay before use in life, and please keep us strong in faith.” The words were simple yet they came from the heart, the nun’s light voice washed around the quiet room and as she finished conversation started, the children started to eat and tuck into the food that was laid out before them.

“So, how’s the food girls?” Yumiko called across to Lydia and Ada, it seemed that they were slightly apprehensive about the place and tired to boot. “Eat up and once you’ve cleared your plates I’ll take you to get washed and dried while one of the others sorts out a place to sleep for you while we get you assigned to a room.” It would be nice to have the new arrivals around to talk to, the orphans were nice and the nun enjoyed looking after them; except it was draining when they fell out and the timid lady had little control over the more reckless and less well behaved ones.

Ada waited patiently while the nun's said grace for the meal. She looked around at all the children around her who had their eyes closed and head's bowed in prayer. She felt a nudge to her arm and looked at the young girl sitting next to her. "You need to pray or god won't hear you..." The girl said. Ada nodded and bowed her head closing her eyes and listening to the Sister pray to god for the meal. She'd never really been much of a believer in god in fact she'd blamed him for quite a few of her problems in the past but he couldn't be all bad if he'd gotten her to this point. As the prayer was finished the room erupted with conversation as children began to eat their meals and speak with their friends.

Ada looked down at the steaming stew in front of her and picked up her spoon taking a mouthful into her mouth and gasping as the warm food slid down her throat. It was delicious before she could stop herself she began to eat faster shoveling spoonful after spoonful of food into her mouth taking bites of bread inbetween spoons of stew. It had been so long since Ada had gotten a proper meal and she'd forgotten how great food could actually be when you didn't have to steal for it. The girl next to her giggled as she watched Ada eat so quickly causing Ada to blush and slow down her pace wiping her face with her napkin. "You must be really hungry." The girl said smiling. Ada smiled a bit and nodded.

Timmy had found a seat across from Lydia, squeezing into the undersized space. He had picked up a spoon and nearly dipped into the steaming stew when one of the sisters minding the children wandered behind him and smacked the back of his head. He dropped the spoon bashfully and grinned guiltily at Lydia through his bushy beard. During grace, one of his eyes kept popping open, making sure his stew hadn't wandered away. And when the words were finally complete, it was off to the races!

In almost no time, his bowl was empty and the only bread left near the man was a dusting of crumbs littering his beard and shirt. Finding no more prey nearby, the big man turns his focus to Lydia and grins widely.

OOC: sorry for the delay guys

Lydia Grinned back at the man on the other side of the table from him, she had finished her food at roughly the same time and was now thinking of raiding the kitchen when no-one was looking. Saying grace took time and her attention had remained on the food, the stew had been like heaven itself. For a girl used to thin soup and small portions this was strange and alien, Lydia hadn't been full in years and now to be content and not hungry for the moment was pure bliss. She yawned slightly and felt like she was about to doze off, yet with a stretch the actress kept awake. "Hello, Timoteo is it? is the food always this good?" Lydia said cheerily, this was a nice place which tempted the urchin to stay for good. It would be a nice place to live, plus the portion sizes...

As the orphans finished Yumiko got everyone started on chores; by getting things done early there was no messing around later on when the younger ones were out to bed. She then turned to Ada and Lydia as the tidying and washing began, calling them over she smiled at them. Yumiko called to one of the children that wasn’t doing anything to go and run the bath, it was time to get the vagabonds washed. “We’ll get you two nice hot baths to get you all wamred up and clean, then I’ll go and make the cocoa for us all. How does that sound?” Yumiko said as she tried to drive the two towards the stairs, and the huge copper tub that would await them.

Ada watched as everyone got to their feet after eating and began to leave. Everyone seemed to know what their job was except for Ada and Lydia. Ada watched a few children begin to clear the tables of bowls and cups while a few others began to sweep the floor. She watched as the Nun ushered another child off to complete a task she hadn't caught before the child had rushed off. The nun turned to them and mentioned hot baths and Ada's eyes widened not in fear but in shock. She'd never had the chance to have a hot bath before the closest she'd ever come to such a thing was when it would rain during the summer. When the water fell warm against her skin washing away the dirt and sweat of street survival.

It didn't take much effort to get Ada up the stairs with the promises of Cocoa and cleanliness. With those incentives Ada couldn't refuse even if she wanted to somehow. As she entered she spotted a child filling a large copper tub with water that she could visibly see steaming. She felt so tempted to just dive straight into the tub of warm looking water and let it was away all her aches and pains.

With a warm smile Yumiko beckoned the two up the stairs, the bath was nearly ready and it was time to get these wayward children cleaned and a nice bed. Gesturing to one of the children just standing around Yumiko gave a quick smile, “get some hot water bottles make up for when these two are clean. They look like they’ll need it” gesturing the two to the bathroom she then spoke to the two girls. “Choose which one of you’ll go in first and then after we’ll get you both sorted out with some clean clothes,” the nun received a strange stare from Lydia. The actress looked up at her and with a weird sort of glare.
“But Sister, I really like my clothes. Sure they’re a bit battered but they’ll do won’t they?”

“Hmm, keep them but they’re getting washed as soon as you take them off. I won’t let you stay in cold wet clothes on my watch, and on that I won’t have you question me” she wasn’t stern, but she tried to be. Her mouth became a straight line, so with a hand on her hip she gestured to the bathroom for them to go and get themselves cleaned up.

Ada suddenly felt a bit nervous as she approached the tubs. Sure they looked tempting but as the nun mentioned stripping down to bathe she blushed. All the times she'd bathed in the rain before she'd either remained clothed or just stripped down to her underclothes. Being a street urchin didn't give a girl a lot of privacy. There were always passerbys or homeless men trying to sneak peaks at her trying to catch a glance of her in the nude. It made her sick especially considering she wasn't even legal yet. "Um...Sister can I bathe in my clothes? I can wash them at the same time that way I won't need clean clothes." Ada said biting her lip. It was a poor excuse but having owned this set of clothing so long she was less than willing to just watch them get thrown away. It was a ridiculous notion but one that she held strong to. For years these clothes had been the only thing she owned they held more value to her than they would to most people.

In the eyes of most they were just articles of clothing, But in her eyes they were among the few things that genuinely belonged to her. One of the few things she'd ever bought instead of stole something she could actually call hers.

Enter from Training Complex.
-------------------

It had been a few hours since she'd left to take care of a few things involving her own personal improvement, and while it did leave her mentally exhausted she had taken the chance for a small break before making the trek back to the orphanage in order regain some of her energy; working with children in a state like that never worked out for anyone after all, and she knew that from experience.

Luckily she was able to cross a few things off of her to do list, now the only thing she needed was check in on the girls and see how they were getting along. She made her way through the orphanage, greeting a few of the children with warm smile as she did before making her way upstairs. One of the other nuns had told her the two she was looking for were still being looked after by Sister Yumiko, and was about to put the two into a bath. The two of them probably wanted one given their previous situation on the street, but she was still going to check in on them.

Arriving at the top of the stairs, Veronica made caught sight of the trio and gave a slight wave as she approached. How are we all getting along?

Yumiko gave a little nervous smile towards Ada, placing her hand on the young ones shoulder she kept her voice calm and her demeanour friendly. “It’s ok Ada, you’ll be fine, we’ll get these washed and dried so that you’ll have them nice and warm for when you get out of the bath ok?” Yumiko said, she pushed her glasses up a little as they slipped down slightly. “But if you really don’t want to get out the clothes then we’ll make a compromise, you take them off in there with the door locked and you can wear your clothes for a little while. But later we are going to get you a clean change of clothes first chance we get, and on that I won’t budge”
She wasn’t stern, but when it came to welfare she could be immovable, it was her job to make sure all under her care were healthy and happy.
It was then she heard the voice of Veronica, giving a little wave the nun turned slightly to speak to her. “Ah, hello Sister, the two girls are a little nervous about bathing and getting their clothes washed. Could you say a few words, I’m going to try and force them but if they’d agree to it I’d feel a lot better about all this.”

Lydia crossed her arms; her eyes flickered as she got more and more annoyed at the hold up. She was reluctant to part with her clothing but that couldn’t b helped if she wanted to get washed, it was Ada that needed it first though. “Jeez, it’ll be ok Ada, just go and get washed and warmed up. Then we can go do stuff I guess…” her voice trailed off at the end, stifling a yawn she leant back against a wall. Pulling out a senbon she began cleaning her nails with it, getting the dirt and grime out was fun in a way. The cold reminded her of Uncle Ladd, that seemingly warm smile, it was so cold and scary; the eyes were the worst though and not a day went by in which she cursed them. The actress growled silently to herself, her eye twitched slightly and to stop herself from getting angrier she simply slipped the needle away and awaited what was going to happen next.

Ada frowned for a moment listening to the Nun's offer to compromise. She sighed and began to strip out of her clothes removing her hat and pants. She'd rather have her clothing ready for her when she got out instead of trudging about in wet clothing. As long as she got to keep her possessions she would cooperate willingly. As she was about to remove her shirt she heard the door open and watched as Veronica stepped inside suddenly she felt a lot more shy here she was trying to bathe and now there were four people in the room. Sure they were girls but still not many people exactly enjoyed stripping down in front of everyone. "Geez is it too much to ask for a bit of privacy?" Ada muttered as she settled into the bath stripping out of the rest of her clothes muttering to herself. She held back a sigh of relief as the warm water warmed her body and eased the aches and pains in her muscles.

-------> enter from Streets of Rome. Let it be noted that Anthony is in the hallway and no where near the actual bathing place and no strange moments should arise from this post.

Anthony arriving in the halls of the orphanage saw at the end of the hallway and even into another room Veronica. He knew that she was probably the person to send after this demon after all. Her expertise with using blessed scripture was second to none in his mind. On top of it all she could track this vampire better than any blood hound on the planet.

"Veronica. Could I speak with you a moment please." Anthony called out in a normal tone noticing some other voices in the room."

As Veronica (Yes she said she would do this) came near him he spoke to her in a low and quiet voice so that she alone would hear what he told her.

At first he began to tell her that a vampire was loose and where he was and what he looked like. But then he also added.

"But be careful. This creature is very in tune with the darkness that flows through him. He is probably other than Hellsing's mut the strongest sorcerer I have ever seen. He can conjure shields that block out silver and blessed bullets. And he wields a chain which he can manipulate with deadly speed and accuracy at will. But this chain I know will not be able to go through a barrier, or at least that is what I have seen. But above all else. He is clever, and very good. He...killed call in a matter of moments. (Anthony's voice took on a pained quality and his face darkened as he spoke.) I managed to shoot him a couple of times but nothing major, I'm sure he is already recovered from the wounds. I'm going to send a message to the rest of Iscariot. One last thing. He was after a letter of some sort. It was apparently of great value. Call, had this letter when he died. I believe that was the purpose of this vampires visit and I also believe that he has the letter."

And with those words stepped back and with pages flowing around him he was carried to his own room where he knew there was a phone. His wounds he left untreated. They were not serious and he had more important things to do.

A shadow appeared under Veronica's veil which blocked out the frightening scowl which had formed on her features. A vampire in Rome? The was unacceptable! Iscariot had kept such disgusting creatures outside its borders for hundreds of years, and one strong enough to bring down a regenerator in moments managed to slip in undetected? The nuns right eye twitched for a moment and gritted her teeth before storming off down the hallway and toward the exit, leaving the others behind her without a word. The wasn't going to go unpunished, there would be retribution! Diem had told her where the engagement had happened, so thats where she would start her investigation. Everything else was irrelevant until she arrived.

Stepping outside, the lid to the satchel on the back of her waist suddenly exploded open, the nun being immediately swallowed by a sea of golden gospel pages before disappearing within them, being carried off into the distance toward the scene of the incident.

Yumiko promptly left, taking the clothes of the girls to get them washed. "Miss Nun lady, look after my hat ok?" Lydia called after her with a smile as the door closed. Waiting for Ada to finish the actress covered herself with a towel, she sighed as she sat down to look at the ceiling
"So Ada...What sort of place have we got here eh..." it was a question, but more a whimsical statement than anything.
It was a strange place...
Her uncle Ladd was out there, it was strange and sobering to think that. She put her head in her hands and swept it back, her smile dropped for a second as the thought of blood blew the mask away for a second.
"Batta le manine
Ora viene papà
Si prendere confitine
Lydia si mangerà!" She sang in Italian, full bodied yet oddly quiet as the lullaby washed over her and reminded her of safety.

PostSubject: Re: The Orphanage interior   The Orphanage interior EmptyFri Aug 30, 2013 4:50 pm

After sitting in the bath for a good 10 minutes cleaning the blood and grime away from her skin she stood up she glanced over at Lydia to find her sleeping with her head perched on the edge of the tub snoring softly. Walking over and adding a bit more warm water to Lydia's bath she walked over to the small pile of clothing one of the nuns had left while she was bathing. She scowled at the choice of clothing they'd given her. It was a Catholic school uniform complete with sweater vest and skirt and a pair of mary janes with knee socks.

"Dear god is this what they consider clothing?" Ada muttered slapping a palm to her forehead. Taking one last look at the clothes she sighed and walked into the changing room and slipped it on wincing as the fabric rubbed against the fresh cut on her hand. She looked over to the sink nearby and spotted her knife. Picking it up she slipped the sheath on over her clothing and took one last glance at Lydia before exiting the room. In her time escaping from the nun and with all the recent insanity that had been occuring she'd forgotten one of her few friends in this world.

Her dog

Biter had been a dog she'd unwillingly adopted after a breaking and entering gone wrong. The small Welsh Corgi had latched onto her hand after she'd broken in and refused to let go. She'd ended up fleeing the scene with the small dog in her arms with his teeth still latched onto her hand. Since then he'd become her dog and one of the few things she'd stolen that she had actually decided to keep. She sighed before heading out she'd need to find the little animal eventually she'd kept him this long and didn't intend to just leave him on the streets after all they'd been through.
